Why it matters
In a manual the rider lifts the front wheel and balances on the rear using weight and body control — no pedalling. Unlike a wheelie, it's pure dynamic balance. It preserves momentum over roots and rocks, keeps trail flow smooth, and is the gateway to bunny hops and gap jumps.
