Depending on our personality we might take all races really seriously, or just select a few to aim for achieving a really good result. However young is our kid after a few races it could become really important to participate and have good result. In this case we have to prepare our kid for the race in the precious 1-2 weeks. Making sure attending trainings, not training the day before, taking care of health, enough sleep, nutrition.

We made one pretty clear mistake at least once: The race – the annual, one time XCO championship was held during the summer, on a weekend, and it happened that our family was on holiday on the countryside on that week. We have the bike with us but we haven’t managet to make even one proper training session. Also, we travelled in the early morning so we haven’t got any chance for a proper track -sight. As a result my son came in second – while he could have been first if we would have made the right preparation.
